Our client located in Rhode Island has an immediate opening for a Network Engineer to join their team. This role will provide operational support, process improvement, and cross-team collaboration to strengthen network infrastructure. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in collaborative environments, and is proactive in identifying areas of improvement across systems, processes, and team functions.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support and troubleshooting for enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless technologies.
• Clearly explain core networking concepts (e.g., subnets, routing, VLANs, TCP/IP) to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Perform root cause analysis and proactively identify network inefficiencies or areas for optimization.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives, documenting best practices and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency, reliability, and resiliency in IT operations.
• Participate in team-building and knowledge-sharing efforts, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
• Provide coverage during 2nd shift hours twice per month to support 24/7 operational needs.
• Ensure compliance with security standards, policies, and procedures across all supported platforms.
  
  

Required

• CCNA certification
• 5–10 years of professional experience as a Network Engineer or similar role
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (e.g., subnetting, routing protocols, switching, DNS, DHCP)
• Proven ability to document processes and contribute to process improvement initiatives
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive "hunt-and-peck" mindset for identifying issues
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and support team growth
  
  

Preferred

• Experience in a large enterprise or healthcare IT environment
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and service management tools
• Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience with firewall and security technologies (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, etc.)
