Lead Systems Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and driven Lead Systems Engineer to join our team.

This role requires deep knowledge of Linux programming and advanced expertise in Managed File Transfer (MFT) automation, with practical experience using CLEO Harmony and Sterling File Gateway. You will play a pivotal role in facilitating our migration to a new MFT platform while ensuring efficient and reliable file transmission operations.

Responsibilities

Implement and configure CLEO Harmony and Sterling File Gateway to support file transmission processes
Design and execute automation routines for MFT workflows using shell and Perl scripting languages
Develop and maintain Connect:Direct setups and file agent scripts to streamline automated file transfers
Partner with network, firewall, and system administrators to resolve connectivity challenges involving TCP/IP and FTP/SFTP protocols
Collaborate with business users to gather transmission needs and create custom solutions
Deliver ongoing support for file transfer operations, including on-call rotations and scheduled maintenance during evenings and weekends
Provide guidance and mentorship to team members while ensuring adherence to engineering standards and methodologies
Follow direction from project leads and take on leadership responsibilities when necessary

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or a similar discipline
At least one year of demonstrated experience leading and managing development teams
Practical experience with CLEO Harmony and Sterling File Gateway in live production settings
Proficiency in Unix/Linux application support and scripting using Bash/Korn Shell and Perl
Strong knowledge of file transmission protocols such as SFTP/SSH, FTPS/SSL, HTTPS, and PGP/GPG encryption
Skilled in TCP/IP configuration, troubleshooting, and managing MFT workflows
Excellent problem-solving skills for addressing complex technical issues
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive projects effectively
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to create thorough documentation
Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, at a B2 level or higher

Nice to have

Hands-on experience with IBM Sterling Connect:Direct
Knowledge of programming languages such as C and Java
Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and GCS Bucket storage systems
Understanding of cloud architecture principles and best practices
