Senior System Engineer, IT Asset Management

About the position

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Asset Management Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting, implementing, and maintaining our IT asset management and infrastructure monitoring systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives regarding enterprise observability.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • IT Asset Management: Deploy and maintain on-premises and cloud-based IT asset management solutions using Device42 to ensure accurate inventory, tracking, and reporting of assets.
  • Application Dependency Mapping: Design and implement frameworks to map application dependencies and visualize relationships between servers, databases, network devices, and other components.
  • Lifecycle Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and enforce IT asset lifecycle processes aligned with industry best practices.
  • Configuration Management Database: Develop and manage a scalable enterprise CMDB capturing all IT assets, their relationships, and dependencies.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze observability data to identify performance bottlenecks and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of observability tools and infrastructure, including diagrams, configurations, and standard procedures.
  • Collaboration: Partner with IT teams, vendors, and key stakeholders to drive observability initiatives and support related projects.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in IT Asset Management and infrastructure monitoring, with emphasis on solution design, implementation, and issue resolution.
  • Strong working knowledge of observability platforms such as Device42, LogicMonitor, or equivalent tools.
  • Solid understanding of network monitoring principles, methodologies, and tooling.
  • Practical experience with public cloud environments, particularly Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
  • Familiarity with SQL for creating custom reports and data queries.
  • Foundational understanding of networking concepts, sufficient to configure and optimize scan tasks.
  • Working knowledge of key protocols and services, including SNMP, SSH, and Active Directory.


Preferred qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in observability tools and practices.
  • Expertise with modern observability tools and willingness to keep current with all applicable technologies.
