About the role

We’re seeking a hands-on Network Engineer with strong expertise in Huawei and Aruba switching and solid experience with DWDM optical transport. You’ll design, implement, and operate scalable, secure enterprise networks, integrating multi-vendor equipment (Huawei, Aruba, Juniper, Fortinet) and ensuring high availability across campus/LAN, WAN, wireless, and optical domains.

Key responsibilities

Huawei/Aruba & Campus/LAN

  • Install, configure, and maintain Huawei switches (S5720, S5731, CE6863 Series, CloudEngine) and Aruba switches.
  • Design and implement LAN/WAN topologies with a focus on scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Configure and manage VLANs, STP/RSTP/MSTP, link aggregation (LACP), QoS, and Layer 2/3 routing (Static, OSPF, BGP).
  • Integrate Huawei and Aruba switches with Juniper routing platforms and Fortinet/Fortigate firewalls.
  • Monitor performance and availability; tune capacity and resilience (HSRP/VRRP/stacking/IRF as applicable).
  • Plan and apply firmware/software upgrades and patches; maintain standard images and rollback plans.
  • Conduct network assessments, site surveys, and risk reviews; produce diagrams, HLD/LLD, and SOPs.
  • Respond to incidents and problems (L2/L3), perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to enforce segmentation, NAC policies, secure management access, and compliance.

DWDM / Optical Transport

  • Design, configure, and deploy DWDM networks for high-speed data transport and backhaul.
  • Install, commission, and test DWDM equipment; turn up wavelengths and validate services.
  • Monitor and optimize optical performance (power levels, OSNR), ensuring minimal latency and downtime.
  • Troubleshoot fiber and optical faults using OTDR, OSA, BER testers, and vendor toolsets.
  • Plan capacity and scalability with network architects; execute software upgrades and patching on DWDM platforms.
  • Interface with vendors and service providers for support and to manage SLAs.

Essential skills & experience

  • 4–6 years in enterprise/service-provider networking with a focus on Huawei switching (S5720/S5731/CE6863/CloudEngine).
  • Strong Aruba switching experience; wireless knowledge beneficial (controller/AP basics, RF fundamentals).
  • Solid routing/switching foundations: Ethernet, STP, LACP, VLANs, VRFs, IPv4/IPv6, Static/OSPF/BGP, ACLs.
  • Experience integrating multi-vendor environments (Juniper routing, Fortinet/Fortigate firewalls).
  • Proven DWDM/optical deployment and operations experience, including network turn-up, testing, and performance monitoring.
  • Hands-on with OTDR, OSA, BER testers and optical power measurement tools.
  • Strong documentation skills (HLD/LLD, BoM, MOP/SOP, as-built, test reports) and diagramming (e.g., Visio).
  • Proficient with network monitoring/telemetry (SNMP, Syslog, NetFlow/sFlow, NMS tools) and change control/ITIL practices.

Nice to have

  • Wireless networking (Aruba or Huawei WLAN), NAC/802.1X, segmentation/micro-segmentation.
  • Automation/scripting (Python/Ansible), templating, and configuration compliance.
  • Exposure to SD-WAN, data center fabrics (EVPN/VXLAN), and IRF/stacking designs.

Certifications (preferred)

  • Huawei: HCIA/HCIP (Routing & Switching / Datacom).
  • Aruba: ACSA/ACSP (preferred).
  • Other relevant vendor certs (Juniper, Fortinet) are a plus.

What you’ll bring

  • A problem-solver’s mindset with clear, actionable troubleshooting under time pressure.
  • Customer-focused communication and the ability to translate technical detail into business impact.
  • Ownership of uptime, security, and documentation quality.
