Data Engineer

JE Riga is a full-cycle custom software product development company established in 2007. We have solid experience delivering specialized solutions across reinsurance, insurance, financial services, and other domains.

We are looking for a qualified Data Engineer (Big Data · Python · T-SQL) to build and optimize data platforms powering analytics at scale for enterprise customers. Full-time position in Riga.

DATA ENGINEER (Big Data · Python · T-SQL)

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and optimize reliable data pipelines and workflows (batch/streaming) for analytics and reporting.
• Build and maintain scalable data models, transformations, and quality checks.
• Develop reproducible analysis in Jupyter Notebooks and productionize Python code to services/jobs.
• Collaborate with business and product stakeholders to translate requirements into robust datasets and metrics.
• Contribute to CI/CD practices for data (versioning, testing, observability).

Requirements:

• Proven experience with big-data platforms and tools (e.g., Spark, Databricks, Kafka, Lakehouse paradigms).
• Advanced Python and Jupyter Notebooks skills.
• Expert-level T-SQL (performance tuning, complex queries, stored procedures).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; attention to data quality and reliability.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and communicate clearly in English.

Nice to have (preferred/desired):

• Familiarity with insurance or reinsurance business processes.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouse, Pipelines, Notebooks, Power BI integration).
