Staff Software Engineer - Cloud Backend
We are seeking experienced Staff Cloud Backend Engineers to design, build, and optimize backend services for our cloud-based applications. This role requires expertise in cloud-native architectures and scalable backend systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, technical discussions and deployment of scalable backend services and APIs.
- Architect and implement microservices and serverless solutions using languages like Go.
- Optimize performance, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure reliability.
- Implement security best practices, including encryption and secure API development.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of backend development experience.
- Experience with architecture, design, and development – must have experience of the whole life cycle of the product – ground up. Experience building event-driven microservices-based architecture – using Kafka or similar - knowing how to build a horizontally scalable distributed system.Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).Proficiency in backend programming languages (Go, Java, Scala, Rust).Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Strong fundamentals in database systems, SQL DB or No SQL DB - experience dealing with large volumes of data.Expertise in RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
Candidates must be based in Dublin for a hybrid role (3x times a week in the office).
