Backend Developer – Craft CMS

Location: Leeds (3 days per week onsite)
Salary: Up to £48,000 (DOE) + Discretionary Bonus

About the role:
As a Backend Developer, you’ll play a central role in shaping content models, implementing logical control panel user interfaces, and ensuring a seamless authoring experience for clients. You’ll collaborate with designers, frontend developers, and project managers to deliver websites that are both technically robust and beautifully crafted.

The position involves working across multiple client projects, contributing to accurate project scoping, providing technical specifications, and delivering features reliably and on time. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to the adoption of new technologies within the team, with progression supported by a dedicated People Development & Culture function.

Key responsibilities: • Design and implement content structures and control panel interfaces within Craft CMS • Map backend content models to frontend requirements, ensuring seamless delivery • Contribute to technical specifications and project cost estimates • Manage multiple client projects, maintaining pace and quality across deliverables • Collaborate with the development team to introduce and adopt new technologies • Support project teams by delivering reliable, maintainable, and efficient code

What you’ll bring:
Essential: • 3+ years of digital agency experience • Strong PHP development skills • Proven Craft CMS expertise (control panel configuration, templating, and content modelling) • Experience designing and structuring CMS content to meet business requirements • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Desirable: • Experience extending Craft CMS with custom modules using the Yii framework • Knowledge of wider technologies including Laravel, Vue.js, and Tailwind CSS • Comfortable engaging with clients where required
