Software Engineer III, Infrastructure, Health Data Privacy

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java) or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
• 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
• Experience with data analytics, data processing, data warehouses, data lakes, or business intelligence (BI).
• Experience with Cloud.
• Familiarity with Google infrastructure (e.g., Borg, Boq, Spanner, Flume).

The Health Platforms and Devices team builds innovative products and services that help our users live longer, healthier lives. We bring together the best of Google technologies and AI, health behavior science, and user-centered design to help users organize the health and wellness data, get insight from it, and take action toward their health goals. We do this with a suite of apps, services, and health wearables. We aim to make consumer health more personal, proactive, and actionable.

Responsibilities

• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Write a product or system development code.
