Senior Network Security Engineer

Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network & Security Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and security of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi’s network infrastructure. The role requires technical leadership, hands-on expertise, and the ability to deliver resilient and secure network solutions aligned with industry best practices and UAE cybersecurity standards.

Key Responsibilities

Network Projects & Infrastructure

• Lead end-to-end network projects (design, implementation, testing, optimization).
• Supervise vendors/service providers and ensure project milestones are met.
• Adopt UAE-IA standards in infrastructure design and delivery.

Network Performance & Optimization

• Monitor and analyze network traffic, ensuring high availability and efficiency.
• Conduct capacity planning and system tuning.

Incident Management & Security

• Serve as an escalation point for complex network and security incidents.
• Apply temporary fixes and lead root-cause analysis.
• Maintain security compliance with IT policies and procedures.

Compliance, Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare detailed reports, architectural diagrams, SOPs, and audit readiness documents.
• Ensure accurate documentation of configurations, logs, and asset inventories.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Work with internal teams, vendors, and management to align IT strategy with institutional needs.
• Support audit readiness and compliance gap resolution.

Qualifications & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent (Master’s preferred)

Active professional certifications:

• CCNP (Datacentre, Enterprise Infrastructure, or Security)
• Palo Alto Firewall Administration
• CCIE (preferred)
• Cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP in progress, Network Defense)

Experience Required

• 7+ years in IT networking, security architecture, and risk assessment.
• Strong expertise with Cisco (Wired/Wireless, Datacentre, Telephony, IAM) and Palo Alto firewalls.
• Proven track record in managing large-scale 3-tier campus network deployments.
• Experience in forensic investigations and implementing IT security controls.
• Knowledge of UAE cybersecurity laws and regulations.

Preferred:

• Higher education IT experience (5+ years).
• VMware, Windows & Linux system management.
