We are seeking a motivated and analytical Material Qualification Data Scientist Intern to join our team and contribute to cutting-edge materials research and qualification processes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data science, materials engineering, and statistical analysis to support material testing, validation, and qualification workflows.

What You'll Do

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise

• Strong ability to analyze unstructured problems, identify root causes and align team objectives to drive material implementations.
• Strong knowledge of programming languages such as C++, R, and Python.
• Understanding of project sprint methodologies.
• Experience capturing and translating strategic/business requirements into technical solutions.
  
  

Leadership

• Experience with projects in a matrix environment.
• Ability to share their vision and engage team members to reach a common goal.
• A firm grasp of cross-functional group alignment approaches.
• Experience presenting/communicating project updates.
  
  

Decision-making and Autonomy

• Full accountability for identifying and/or developing data science tools that can be integrated within the material implementation process operating model.
• Work with line management to enable decisions and contribute to gaining alignment for changes outside approved scope.
  
  

Interaction

• Strong interpersonal and active problem-solving skills.
• Partners with material implementation teams to identify team needs (team members are from the areas of quality, procurement, process experts, product experts, device experts, and regulatory affairs).
• Works across functional area boundaries and manufacturing sites, when needed, to bring in additional resources and alignment.
• Works independently for alignment on data science development approach while escalating to line manager for issues cutting across multiple sites or functional areas.
  
  

Innovation

• Scout for off-the-shelf solutions to speed Material Qualification data science efforts.
• Develop in-house tool(s) that can be deployed at enterprise-scale for maximum value capture.

• Possess effective time management and organizational skills.
• Be able to work with competing deadlines and on multiple projects simultaneously.
  
  

What We're Looking For

• BS graduates May 2025 in computer science or data science
• Enrolled in data science, computer science, or STEM degree program (Bachelor of Science).
• Completion of second year in your field.
