Job Title: Equity Research Analyst (Internship to Full-Time)
Company: SWM SwissWealth Management SA
Location: Paradiso, Switzerland
About Us:
Founded in 2007 and based in Paradiso, SWM SwissWealth Management SA is a CISA-authorized asset management company with a long-standing international presence. The investment research team you will be joining takes a disciplined, long-term approach to investing, grounded in a philosophy of business ownership.
The Role:
We are seeking a highly curious and intellectually honest individual to join our team as an Equity Research Analyst. This is an opportunity to learn and apply the principles of fundamental, long-term value investing. Your role will be to conduct deep research to understand the intrinsic value of a select number of global businesses. We are not interested in market noise or short-term predictions. Instead, we focus on understanding a company’s competitive advantages, the quality of its management, and its long-term durability. You will learn to think about stocks as businesses.
Position Structure:
This position will begin as a 3 to 6-month paid internship, designed to immerse you in our investment philosophy and analytical process. Our clear intention is for this internship to convert into a permanent, full-time analyst role for the right candidate who demonstrates a strong alignment with our values and approach.
Responsibilities:
● Perform deep, fundamental research on global companies to understand their business models, competitive advantages, and long-term prospects.
● Critically analyze financial statements with a healthy dose of skepticism, paying close attention to cash flow generation and balance sheet strength.
● Develop simple, intuitive financial models focused on assessing a business's long-term intrinsic value. Clarity of thought is more important than model complexity.
● Read voraciously – annual reports, trade journals, books, and case studies – to build a deep understanding of businesses and industries.
● Work directly with the Portfolio Manager to challenge investment theses, debate key variables, and build conviction.
Who You Are:
● You have a demonstrable, obsessive passion for understanding businesses and investing.
● You are an independent and critical thinker, comfortable with contrarian views and questioning assumptions.
● You possess strong intellectual honesty and the humility to learn from mistakes.
● A deep, practical understanding of accounting principles and the ability to dissect and critically analyze financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow) is essential.
● You are patient and disciplined, with the temperament to focus on the long term.
● You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications:
● A strong academic record, typically in a field like finance, economics, or accounting, is preferred. However, exceptional candidates from any discipline are encouraged to apply, provided they can demonstrate a deep knowledge of accounting and financial analysis.
● Eligibility: Candidates must be a Swiss or EU national, or otherwise hold a valid Swiss work permit.
● Language Skills: Professional fluency in English and Italian is required.
● Prior experience in an investment role is not required. Your demonstrated passion and analytical mindset are more important.
● Progress towards the CFA designation is a plus but not a prerequisite.
