Java Software Engineer – RegTech

• Location: London (hybrid, 1-2 day/week in the office)
• Rate: £720 per day, inside IR35
• Duration: Until 31st December 2025

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our RegTech function within the FinTech domain. This role focuses on building innovative solutions that ensure compliance, manage regulatory risks, and enhance the security and resilience of financial systems. You will contribute to developing scalable, high-performance services and work closely with compliance teams to deliver reliable technology that meets evolving regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and high-performance systems.
• Own and develop microservices that support regulatory technology solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, prioritising customer and business impact.
• Collaborate with compliance officers to provide enhanced tooling, analytics, and reporting.
• Apply and advocate software engineering best practices.
• Participate in system architecture reviews and define clear SLOs and KPIs.
• Contribute to team growth through interviewing, onboarding, and mentoring.

Skills & Experience:

• Strong proficiency in Java and at least one other server-side programming language.
• Solid experience with microservices architecture.
• Background in building scalable distributed systems and batch processing pipelines with a focus on data integrity.
• Hands-on knowledge of multiple data storage technologies (e.g., MySQL, Hadoop, Cassandra).
• Strong understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with defining and maintaining SLOs/KPIs.
• Awareness of security challenges, particularly around authentication and authorization.
