Join Ovum in revolutionising women’s healthcare through an intelligent AI
Ovum is an intelligent health partner for women. Using AI to encourage consistent logging of symptoms and holistic health data, the app is able to create a comprehensive health profile at any time throughout the user's history by combining personalised insights with cycle tracking, medical report and biometric data integration. Whilst empowering women through health literacy, Ovum will also create the first women-specific longitudinal AI dataset to feed back into closing the research gap in women’s health.
The mission of Ovum’s founder, Dr. Ariella Heffernan-Marks, is to provide a platform where women can understand, manage, and take control of their health, guided by intelligent, personalised insights — ultimately giving them agency over their bodies, for life.
Our purpose is to fundamentally transform the healthcare experience for women, with the goal of closing the gender health gap for good.
We’re seeking a Software Developer (AI-Focused) with strong technical skills and a deep passion for purpose-driven work to help us build the core of Ovum’s intelligent health engine.
What You’ll Do
- Build, maintain, and improve AI models that deliver personalised health insights and predictions based on user data, including symptom tracking, biometrics, and clinical records.
- Develop data processing pipelines to handle large volumes of structured and unstructured health data, ensuring high data quality, privacy, and performance.
- Contribute to the architecture and scalability of Ovum’s AI infrastructure across mobile and backend systems, enabling real-time and longitudinal insights.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to design user-facing features powered by AI, ensuring that they are transparent, ethical, and impactful.
- Conduct research and experimentation to refine Ovum’s algorithms and identify opportunities for improving health outcome predictions and user experience.
- Work with medical experts to incorporate domain knowledge into models, validate outputs, and explore innovative applications of AI in women’s healthcare.
- Support responsible AI practices, including bias mitigation, explainability, and secure data handling in compliance with privacy regulations.
About You
- 3–5 years experience in software development/engineering, preferably within startups, digital health, or AI-first consumer applications.
- Strong programming fundamentals and experience with languages such as Python, Typescript and Dart.
- Previous experience developing and deploying mobile applications, native or cross-platform.
- Proficient in the practical application of LLMs such as fine-tuning models, evaluation and prompt engineering.
- Experience with real-world data, especially messy, incomplete, or time-series data — exposure to health data or medical datasets is highly desirable.
- Comfortable with cloud-based development, preferably on Azure.
- Curious, ethical, and impact-driven, with a strong desire to apply your AI skills to meaningful, socially significant problems.
- Collaborative and communicative, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
