Enterprise Integration Engineer – Contract | ACT | Hybrid
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Enterprise Integration Engineer to join a high-profile federal program focused on uplifting regulatory capability and ensuring transparency in Australia’s electoral system.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying efficient, secure, and scalable integration solutions across a diverse enterprise application landscape. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver APIs, troubleshoot integration issues, and ensure smooth deployments in line with government security frameworks.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement integration solutions using Azure services (Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid, APIM).
- Design and deliver secure, high-quality APIs ensuring scalability, reliability, and interoperability.
- Write clean, efficient code for integration components and conduct code reviews.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including system analysts, testers, and business teams to align solutions with requirements.
- Monitor and optimise integration workflows for performance and availability.
- Ensure compliance with government security and privacy frameworks (ISM, PSPF).
- Stay up to date with integration trends, cloud strategy, and emerging technologies.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Strong software development background in C#, .NET Core and SQL.
- Proven experience with Azure integration tools (Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, APIM).
- Deep understanding of RESTful API design, authentication/authorisation (OAuth, OpenID, JWT).
- Knowledge of microservices, JSON, XML, REST, SOAP, gRPC, GraphQL.
- Strong database and integration pattern knowledge.
- Hands-on experience with API testing and quality assurance.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable:
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps), Git, YAML, Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Bicep).
- Understanding of microservices, event-driven systems, and Domain Driven Design (DDD).
- Exposure to security testing (SAST, DAST) and tools such as Micro Focus Fortify.
- Familiarity with SailPoint, ServiceNow, AWS.
- Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Additional requirements:
- Australian citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
