Brief task description

As a Senior Software Engineer in the ETCS L1 Team, you will play a critical role in delivering a fully functional and integrated software product, aligning with the customer's overall solution. You will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including architects, business analysts, product design authorities, and product line managers.

Your responsibilities extend beyond individual projects, as the products you develop are part of ongoing product lines, requiring you to take a long-term, strategic view in all decisions. You will also contribute to product planning and support the Project Manager with resource management, estimation, and overall project planning.

In addition to customer-specific projects, you will participate in the design and estimation of new offerings and engage in activities related to the long-term product strategy. Development will take place in a professional environment, in close cooperation with local experts or teams in Austria. You will also be responsible for supporting testing teams by providing technical guidance, ensuring that the software meets quality and performance standards, and assisting in troubleshooting and resolving any issues identified during the testing phases.

Professional competency

Education and experience:

• Technical Bachelor degree
• Very good expertise in C language
• Scripting (shell, python) would be a plus
• Work experience in a mission critical / safety critical or transportation domain

Personal competencies:

• Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer with a strong track record of delivering successful software products
• Architectural Understanding: Ability to work closely with architects to translate high-level solution architecture into detailed software design
• Support for Testing: Ability to work closely with testers, offering technical support to ensure thorough validation, and assisting in resolving issues that arise during testing phases
• Deep understanding of software development methodologies and best practices.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with teams across multiple disciplines (design, product management, business analysis) and geographic locations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Work experience in both waterfall and iterative software development processes
• Knowledge of the following (or similar) tools: Polarion/DOORS, JIRA/Charm
• Would be a plus: experience in or domain knowledge of transportation

Languages:

• English (very good reading and writing)
• German would be a plus
