Security Officer

Job Summary:

The Security Officer is responsible for safeguarding the organization’s IT and OT environments by continuously monitoring, analyzing, and mitigating potential threats. This role requires deep technical knowledge of cybersecurity tools, best practices, and emerging threat landscapes, and plays a critical role in enforcing security policies, managing incidents, and guiding teams on secure development and operations practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and analyze security events using SIEM, SOAR, firewalls, VPNs, and other cybersecurity tools.
• Detect, investigate, and respond to security incidents; apply remediation strategies effectively.
• Perform ongoing traffic analysis on internal and external networks to detect anomalies and suspicious activity.
• Stay up-to-date on current IT/OT cyber threats, intrusion techniques, vulnerabilities, and security trends.
• Provide in-depth security analysis for cloud platforms, client-server, and multi-tier web applications.
• Apply strong knowledge of networking principles (TCP/IP, LANs/WANs, Internet protocols, OT segmentation).
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and support penetration testing efforts.
• Assist in deploying and managing cybersecurity tools, ensuring continuous operation and updates.
• Enforce and audit security policies, particularly in line with Qatar’s approved cybersecurity frameworks.
• Provide security guidance and consultation to application developers, network engineers, and related staff.
• Identify and report security vulnerabilities, ensuring timely remediation by the relevant teams.
• Monitor user access rights and detect any misuse or unauthorized access to systems and data.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity roles.
• Languages: Excellent in both written and spoken English.
• Certifications: (At least one or more of the following are preferred)
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
• Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
• CompTIA Security+
• Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
• GIAC certifications (GSEC, GCIA, etc.)
