We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Scala Engineer to join our team, focusing on scalability and high-volume data processing.
Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement efficient solutions to manage multi-version product catalogues, ensuring performance and scalability of our core Catalog microservice. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams in a service-oriented environment hosted on Google Cloud Platform.
Responsibilities
- Build scalable and maintainable software products with a focus on high performance and extensibility
- Contribute to technical discussions and propose innovative architectures and solutions
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to define project specifications and delivery timelines
- Conduct code reviews to uphold best practices and improve code quality across the team
- Advocate for the adoption of modern development tools, frameworks, and practices
- Ensure technical decisions align with key business goals, including quality and system availability
- Promote a culture of collaboration and energy within the team
- Maintain and improve system observability using state-of-the-art monitoring and logging tools
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues impacting system performance
- Mentor less experienced engineers to help them grow professionally
Requirements
- At least 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining distributed and scalable systems
- Proficiency in Scala development with a strong understanding of programming and design principles
- Expertise in MySQL with a focus on optimizing read/write operations and data performance
- Familiarity with TypeScript, PHP, or other relevant programming languages in service-oriented architectures
- Background in working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-hosted environments
- Understanding of data (de-)normalization principles and challenges around asynchronous data projections
- Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, or Kibana
- Proven ability to build resilient, high-throughput systems in production environments
- Familiarity with continuous deployment practices and experimentation frameworks
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering reliable and scalable solutions
