AI Developer – Medical Imaging (Implant Planning)

About the Role

We're hiring an AI Developer to join a cutting-edge healthcare AI team focused on transforming full-jaw dental surgery. You’ll be taking over implant planning work from a senior AI lead, with a ready-made pipeline and tools in place, allowing you to contribute from day one.

This is a hands-on, research-to-deployment role ideal for someone with strong fundamentals in classification and reinforcement learning, ideally applied to medical imaging tasks like implant planning, detection, or analysis.

What You'll Work On

• Develop and maintain models for implant planning using CBCT data
• Apply classification and reinforcement learning to automate treatment workflows
• Work closely with senior AI developers and imaging specialists
• Conduct experiments, train and validate models, and integrate into production pipelines
• Collaborate on the future expansion of AI systems in dental healthcare

What We're Looking For

• Strong background in Machine Learning or AI, with hands-on experience in:
• Classification algorithms
• Reinforcement learning frameworks
• 3D imaging and spatial reasoning
• Experience with CBCT, CT, or MRI data (ideal, but not essential)
• Proficiency in Python and ML libraries (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• A Master’s or PhD in a related field (AI, ML, Biomedical Engineering, etc.)
• Ability to work independently and pick things up quickly

Nice to Have

• Prior work with implant planning, dental datasets, or surgical workflows
• Experience deploying ML models into production environments
• Familiarity with medical image preprocessing or annotation tools

Logistics

• Salary: £65,000–£70,000
• £65K starting
• £70K available if you're able to relocate to Manchester
• Location: UK-based candidates strongly preferred
• Start date: Immediate availability preferred (up to 1 month acceptable)
• Interview process: Streamlined technical interview with the AI lead
