Senior Software Developer (C/C++)

At HCL Rome Lab we are seeking to hire a Senior Software Development engineer for the BigFix product line. This role specializes in working with and providing technical guidance to other junior development members and collaborating with architects and other leadership team members.

Who you are

As a Senior Developer, you will have a track record of successful projects with demonstrated impact on their success thanks to strong technical and personal background. In our team you will be responsible for:

• working with the product architects to define product architecture, high-level and low-level design artifacts
• giving technical directions to the junior team members to implement product features according to the defined design
• mentoring junior team members to achieve their own goals as well as the overall organization business goals
• contributing with creative ideas for new prototypes and innovative projects
• contributing to any process improvements to optimize the SW life-cycle and maximize the team’s productivity
• analyzing and implementing new product features being accountable for the personal and the team’s work
• troubleshooting and resolving product issues reported by customers in the field
• contributing on test automation, troubleshooting and fixing product's issues discovered during the development cycles

Our ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, able to work independently and juggle multiple tasks.

You must be able to identify problems before they happen, dig deep for root causes and implement solutions that prevent future occurrences.

Qualifications

- Graduated with university degree in either Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics disciplines

- at least 10-year experience in the SW development industry

- at least 3-year demonstrated experience as SW development technical leader in SW companies

Required Technical Skills with proven track record of successful projects and strong hands-on experience in the following areas

- C++ development language

- OS (Unix, Windows, Mac) and Database (SQL Server, DB2, MySQL) programming

- REST API implementation and network programming

Required Soft Skills

- Experience in performing problem determination & root cause analysis

- Strong analytical ability with good practice in breaking down complex problems into simple tasks to be delegated to other team members

- Dedicated to continual self-development

- Good teamwork

- Leadership, delegation and accountability

- Ability to collaborate with geographically distributed cross-functional teams

- Ability to multi-task

- Good written and verbal communications skills

- Fluent written and spoken English

- Go programming language

- Multi-cloud environments (Amazon, Microsoft, Google, IBM, etc) and virtualization technologies (VMWare)

- Cloud Management Platform at all levels such as IaaS, PaaS, SaaS

- Secure Engineering standard practices

- SW product design & architecture

- Performance optimization at all levels such as algorithm complexity, DB schema, data access and management

- Multiple design patterns

- Test Automation practices and Agile Development

- Experience in working with customers

- Familiarity with executive level communications and metrics

- Presenting at conferences / engaging face-to-face with customers

- Availability for short term business trips
