Senior DevOps Engineer – Data Integration

Role Overview

As a Senior DevOps Engineer (Data Integration), you will play a key role in onboarding, extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) structured and unstructured information into enterprise monitoring solutions such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, and other observability platforms. You will work closely with engineers specializing in security, application monitoring, and log file management to deliver high-value monitoring capabilities leveraged by control room operations, SOC teams, and application stakeholders.

The team is embarking on a large-scale transformation project to migrate multiple data integration solutions into a unified platform. This involves transitioning from ArcSight connectors, Logstash, and Splunk toward Cribl. You will actively contribute to the design and implementation of the new environment, guiding migration efforts, and fostering collaboration to ensure knowledge and best practices are shared across the team.

As a senior member of a multi-disciplinary DevOps team, you will take responsibility for the quality, health monitoring, and availability of log sources, while enabling the organization to scale and optimize its data integration strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Integration & Monitoring: Design and deliver high-quality dataflows that meet stakeholder requirements for monitoring and alerting. Collaborate with system owners, detection engineers, and monitoring platform teams to ensure seamless onboarding of log sources.
• Platform Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain data integration clusters (Cribl), ensuring reliable ETL processes and consistent data transformation (e.g., CEF, XML, JSON).
• Operational Excellence: Implement health monitoring of log sources, dataflows, and ETL pipelines to ensure accuracy, reliability, and performance.
• Team Enablement: Train and mentor colleagues, enhancing the team’s expertise in deploying, integrating, and maintaining data integration platforms.

Practical Examples

• Deploying and maintaining a Cribl cluster for centralized log management.
• Designing and maintaining dataflows from diverse log sources into enterprise monitoring solutions.
• Transforming structured and unstructured data into standardized formats (e.g., JSON, XML, CEF).

Qualifications & Skills

Technical Expertise

• Certified in Cribl administration and Splunk.
• Strong knowledge of Azure services, including Sentinel Data Connectors.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong understanding of common data formats and network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Experience with JavaScript or similar programming languages.
• Knowledge of ITIL practices.
