What We Have

Our client is an intermediary in FX options trading between prominent institutional players.

New and ongoing projects based on our dxTrade platform — an order management system. Java backend is responsible for all business processes related to trading. Order issuing, validation, routing, execution, option price calculations, reconciliation, etc. High performance, low-latency and fault tolerance is our daily job.

We strive for code quality via careful code reviews and various types of testing. Fear of change is eliminated by a high test coverage. More than 70% in average and 90% on critical parts.

Teams co-exist in a Scrum/Kanban environment backed by Atlassian suite, Slack, TeamCity, Sonar, Docker, etc.

Most project teams are multi-cultural and distributed, typically consist of 3-7 BE engineers balanced by QAs, FEs, BAs.

Job Description

We are looking for a Mid-Senior Backend Developer more focused on Python to join the Research & Development Team.

Our current project involves developing one of the leading trading platforms in the USA, serving a user base of over 200,000 online users daily across desktops, mobile devices, and the web.

The technology stack includes Python (with frameworks such as Django, Flask, and FastAPI), databases and streaming technologies like PostgreSQL, Kafka, DynamoDB, and Redis, as well as tools such as Docker, Airflow, Kubernetes, and Terraform, with AWS as the cloud environment, and requires experience in building and maintaining scalable services with a strong focus on non-functional requirements.

The responsibilities of the platform's backend services include handling all business processes related to trading, such as order issuance, validation, routing, execution, option price calculation, and reconciliation. We prioritize high performance, low latency, and fault tolerance in our day-to-day tasks. We ensure code quality by performing careful code reviews and various types of testing.

We Expect The Backend Developer To

• Design and develop robust, scalable, and efficient finance services using Python,
• Implement versatile finance reporting pipelines,
• Implement integrations for internal and external finance services,
• Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance an existing system,
• Research and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency,
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  
  

Qualifications

Must-have skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field,
• 4+ years of proven experience as a Python Developer (experience in the FinTech sector is a plus),
• Strong understanding of at least one of these frameworks: Django, Flask, FastAPI,
• Passion for coding,
• Knowledge in computer science data structures, algorithms, and their complexities,
• Desire to optimise, document, and maintain code, and also carefully cover it with tests,
• Willingness and energy to take your ideas all the way from proof of concept to production-ready code,
• General responsibility and a result-oriented mindset,
• Desire to achieve goals as a team, willingness to help colleagues, and ability to provide/accept constructive feedback,
• B2+ English to be able to communicate with multicultural teams and a US customer,
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure,
• Substantial communication and teamwork skills.
  
  

Nice-to-have Skills

• Trading and capital markets background,
• Hands-on experience in concurrent programming and understanding of thread synchronization approaches,
• Exposure to distributed systems, following strong performance and reliability requirements,,
• Solid Unix/Linux knowledge,
• Data engineering technologies (Apache Spark, PySpark, Airflow, and Presto),
• Experience with cloud services (preferably AWS) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
