Back End Developer

Senior Backend Developer (Elixir and Phoenix) with startup DNA to join a team of innovators and redefine the benchmarks for asset monitoring.

The office is based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and the business operates a preferred hybrid model but a remote option would be optional for the right person.

Our client is revolutionising how the world monitors critical infrastructure with smart optical sensors that detect millimeter-scale displacements in real-time. This technology monitors bridges, tunnels, and rail networks with high precision, giving asset owners peace of mind.

We're looking for a polyglot with senior-level expertise in Elixir and the Phoenix framework , who has a strong affinity for functional programming. You should have a proven track record of rapid and effective development in startup environments and demonstrable experience scaling a product from MVP to a production platform.

In this role, you will lead the development and take over day-to-day responsibilities of the Elixir/Phoenix platform. You will work closely with a team of 4, including another Elixir developer , and provide technical leadership by introducing best practices and processes. Your valuable input on architectural decisions will be based on your tangible experience.

The ideal candidate will have a strong vision for AI tooling and advocate for its integration into the daily workflow.

The tech stack includes:

• Backend: Elixir, Phoenix, and Python
• Database & Cloud: PostgreSQL, FLY, and Neon
• Frontend: Phoenix LiveView, React, Tailwind CSS, HTML

Salary - Market Rate for Mid Level Developers in the Netherlands.
