About the Role

We are working with a leading energy trading business seeking to strengthen its intraday and day-ahead desk. This is a highly entrepreneurial role for an experienced Proprietary Power Trader who can bring proven success and a unique edge to the table.

You’ll be part of a fast-moving team with the flexibility, resources, and support to scale your trading strategies across multiple European markets. The company is positioned at the forefront of the market’s shift toward quantitative and algorithmic approaches, and is looking for someone who can thrive in this evolving landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute intraday, day-ahead, and balancing market trades across European power markets.
• Apply quantitative and algorithmic approaches to identify opportunities and manage risk.
• Drive profitability and contribute to the continued growth of the desk with a proven PnL track record.
• Monitor short-term fundamentals and market dynamics, with a particular focus on Eastern and Western European markets.
• Collaborate with analytics and tech teams to enhance trading models and tools.
• Bring a unique trading style or strategy that differentiates you from peers in the market.

Requirements

• Proven track record of profitability in intraday/day-ahead power trading (target: €1m+ PnL).
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; comfortable with data-driven, algorithmic approaches.
• Experience in European power markets, ideally with exposure to both Eastern and Western hubs.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work flexibly and adapt to market conditions.
• Prior experience with leading energy trading houses or proprietary desks (e.g., MFT, Norlys, or similar) is advantageous.
