Job Responsibilities

The IT Security Specialist I position will help to maintain the security and integrity of the state's election system and infrastructure.

  • Maintains security of agency, election, and critical infrastructure systems. Reviews Cyber Hygiene and other vulnerability scans and risk assessments to ensure vulnerabilities are mitigated. Conduct vulnerability assessments of agency and county resources at the request of management.
  • Create and maintain security plans, policies, and procedures related to securing agency critical infrastructure.
  • Create and maintain end user agreements, maintain user IDs and two factor authentication for all systems.
  • Train and establish relationships with state and county users to achieve security related objectives and raise security awareness.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in cyber/information security, information technology systems, computer science or related field and experience in cyber/information security.
  • Individual must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance.
  • Ability to work effectively with users, vendors, and other IT personnel.
  • Ability to analyze moderately complex technical data, and to assist with identifying and

resolving problems.

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least three years recent experience in an information technology role with an emphasis on cyber security.
  • One or more cybersecurity/information security related certifications.
  • Ability to conduct vulnerability assessments and confirm remediations are effective.

Additional Comments

  • Employee will have limited supervision and will be expected to successfully manage and complete several projects on time.
  • This position will periodically travel to county election offices within the state. Overnight travel and/or overtime will be required during peak workload periods.
  • Must be able to lift 15 to 20 pounds.
