Position Summary
We’re seeking a mid-level Infrastructure Engineer to help operate and maintain the backbone of the Open VSX Registry. Reporting to the Senior Manager, IT Operations your role focuses on building high-availability mirror infrastructure, secure content distribution, and robust cloud operations. You’ll collaborate with our Site Reliability and DevOps teams to ensure uptime, scalability, and a seamless experience for developers around the world.

Position Summary

What You’ll Do
- Design and maintain high-availability mirror infrastructure for Open VSX content distribution
- Manage cloud resources across European and global providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Implement security controls, backups, and disaster recovery strategies
- Support PostgreSQL and ElasticSearch clusters for performance and reliability
- Automate infrastructure tasks using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools
- Monitor system health using observability platforms (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
- Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and respond to incidents
- Collaborate with SREs and developers to improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
- Provide technical support to users and community contributors
- Maintain documentation and contribute to operational playbooks
- 3+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or systems administration
- Strong understanding of Linux systems and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Experience with cloud platforms and services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, and distributed systems
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible)
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a collaborative mindset
- Bonus: experience supporting open source registries or developer platforms
- Flexible work hours and remote-first culture
