Are you passionate about the intersection of biology and data science? As a Bioinformatics Associate at Ribbon Bio, you’ll play a key role in our R&D team, helping to design, implement, and optimize computational workflows for cutting-edge DNA sequence analysis. You’ll contribute to the development of innovative bioinformatics solutions that analyze large-scale datasets from high-throughput molecular biology experiments. This role is for early-career professionals excited to apply their bioinformatics, programming, and data science skills in a dynamic, collaborative biotech environment, working at the forefront of synthetic biology innovation.


Tasks

  • Perform and assist in the analysis of biological datasets, with a focus on sequencing and synthetic biology data, ideally also long read sequencing data

  • Apply and improve bioinformatics algorithms and computational pipelines for processing, analyzing, and interpreting biological data

  • Perform statistical analyses and data mining techniques to identify patterns, correlations, and biological insights

  • Collaborate with researchers and scientists to design experiments, analyze results, and provide computational support

  • Maintain and curate bioinformatics data in support of the training of in-house developed algorithms

  • Participate in team meetings, seminars, and workshops to share knowledge and discuss project progress

  • Document workflows, protocols, and software code for reproducibility and transparency


Requirements

  • Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biology, or related field. Alternatively, relevant coursework and/or proven working experience in the field of bioinformatics.

  • Good understanding of bioinformatics concepts, algorithms, and methodologies

  • Experience with programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python, R, Perl, or Java.

  • Experience with bioinformatics software packages and tools for sequence analysis, genome assembly, and data visualization (e.g., BLAST, Bowtie, SAMtools, RStudio, Bioconductor, Biopython, etc)

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques and software (e.g., R, MATLAB, SPSS, R).

  • Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle and associated best practices

  • Knowledge of molecular biology and genetics principles

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work in a multidisciplinary team environment

  • Motivation to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies in bioinformatics

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

The gross annual compensation for part-time employment ranges between EUR 18,900 and EUR 21,000.


Employment type: part-time (20 hours/week) with the possibility to transition to full-time in 2026
