Back End Developer

Job Description:

The scope of the consultant services is to assist in:

Designing and implementing new services, evolving and enhancing existing services. Reviewing others designs.

Driving APIs design for external as well as internal use.

Development of own tests, observing the coverage targets, and following code quality standards. Adhere to all non-functional requirements for service development. Reviewing tests of others.

Automate anything repetitive in CI/CD, scripting, and services that reduces the future investment in similar tasks. Standardization of the team’s CI/CD pipeline.

On-call shift rotation participation together with the team, with frequency 1-2 times per 2 months depending on load, and according to national regulations. Writing and reviewing Root Cause Analysis and Post-mortem documents.

Communicate with neighboring dependency team to clarify integration topics and produce solid results, good relationship for future cooperation, and knowledge sharing.

Participate in monitoring the health of services and jumps on defects to fix based on their severity. Communicate status to the impacted stakeholder.

Regular participation in the team’s Agile process, such as backlog creation, refinement, estimating, sprint planning, retros, updating status of their work, raising issues on time.

Regularly identify technical debt on the go and create backlog for that to refine and plan with the team.

Monitor and improve team metrics/KPIs, such as DORA, PR metrics, quality metrics, to help the team stay at top shape.

Measure and optimize performance of services, with awareness to the SLAs.

Documenting one's own work and contributing to the team documentation stack. Review the documents of teammates.

Optimize cost and contribute to the lean footprint of the services. Develop architecture, designs, and infrastructure with cost awareness in a cloud setup.

Requirements:

University degree in Computer Science or an equivalent engineering topic with bachelor’s level or higher.

5+ years of professional experience in backend programming in Golang and Java.

Extensive product domain experience with inventory management of warehouse and store management systems.

Proven DevOps experience in a team that operates 24/7 global services on different time zones.

Experience with event-driven designs using Google PubSub and Solace.

Infrastructure as code experience with Terraform.

Experience with designing and managing clusters with Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker, in GCP.

Experience with cost optimising Google Cloud and its native services.

Experience diagnosing and incident management with observability tools, e.g., Sentry, Grafana, Open Telemetry.

Experience with analytics solutions using Google Bigquery.
