Plant Manager, landmark project - TBM Excavations

A leading international group in the large-scale infrastructure sector is actively involved in the construction of the new Pitești–Sibiu motorway in Romania — a vital link between Western Europe and the Black Sea, and a core part of the pan-European TEN-T corridor.

Renowned for its commitment to excellence, cutting-edge technology, and sustainable practices, the company is now expanding its technical-operational team and is looking for Italian-speaking experts to join the project.

We are currently hiring a Plant Manager, to be based on-site as a core member of the team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a complex, high-impact project alongside international specialists.

Main responsibilities of the role:

With reference to the plants, machinery, and equipment required for the execution of the works, the Plant Manager ensures:

• Support the Construction Management in defining work methods and identifying the necessary equipment;
• Prepare and update the inventory of machinery and equipment (owned and rented);
• Participate in drafting the budget for investments, maintenance, consumption, and rentals;
• Collaborate with HQ to define technical specifications and manage purchase requests;
• Coordinate the layout design of permanent and temporary site installations;
• Supervise both ordinary and extraordinary maintenance, periodic inspections, and legal compliance checks;
• Keep technical documentation and certifications up to date for all machinery and equipment;
• Manage the technical-operational team within the Plant & Equipment area;
• Ensure compliance with current safety and environmental regulations.

Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related engineering qualification;
• Solid experience (minimum 5 years) in similar roles on large infrastructure projects;
• Experience of working on TBM projects;
• Multidisciplinary technical knowledge related to major construction equipment and plant;
• Knowledge of European regulations in the field of Plant & Equipment (P&E);
• Fluency in Italian (native or professional level);
• Good command of English;
• Strong leadership skills, operational autonomy, and problem-solving abilities;
• Proficiency in MS Office and relevant technical/management software;
• Must hold the right to work in the EU.
