Do you want to design products that don’t just sit on a desk - but help enable satellite communications in space? We’re looking for an Industrial Designer who can combine aesthetics, usability, and engineering awareness to make complex technology intuitive and beautiful. This is a unique opportunity to shape the look, feel, and usability of advanced hardware that must perform flawlessly under extreme conditions. You’ll work at the crossroads of design and engineering, where your creativity directly influences how next-generation satellite products are experienced by users worldwide.
This is a 12 month contract opportunity, with the potential for extensions. You will be required to work on site a minimum of 3 days per week, but ideally you are able to commit to full on-site presence.
Responsibilities
- Define the form, shape, and tactile qualities of the product
- Work on the UX/UI aspects of physical product interaction
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate design intent with engineering feasibility
- Ensure designs meet both functional performance and aesthetic quality
- Support material and surface treatment choices for desired user experience and appearance
- Contribute to prototype evaluation for look, feel, and ergonomics
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong background in industrial design with mechanical engineering knowledge
- Experience in user-focused product design (shape, form, and feel)
- Ability to balance aesthetic design with manufacturability
- Skilled in SolidWorks or similar CAD tools
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience with high-tolerance mechanical products
- Knowledge of surface treatments and materials for premium product design
- Background in telecoms, electronics, or technology products
