Our engineers are the technical visionaries driving our innovative solutions. Renowned globally for designing, integrating, and delivering state-of-the-art simulation and training systems, you’ll tackle complex challenges, collaborate across functions, and lead advancements that shape the future of our industry. Supported by a culture that fosters flexibility, growth, and technological excellence, our engineers are empowered to make a meaningful impact every day. Whether your passion lies in data, mechanical, or aerospace engineering, CAE provides the environment to refine your skills and create a lasting legacy in safety and simulation.

The Product

The MADXR (Magnetic Anomaly Detection) is the latest generation of avionics system installed onboard surveillance airplanes and helicopters which allows for real time detection of submarines (hyperlink to product demo). The system has successfully demonstrated performance during test flights and is entering high volume production rate. Our engineering team is faced with the challenge of standardizing the product to enable mass production.

Position Overview

As a member of the hardware engineering team, your primary role will be to develop the MAD-XR product (Magnetic Anomaly Detection) and associated equipment and integrate it to new customer platforms. You will be a key participant in making improvements to the design and test sequences to produce the MAD-XR system in high volume while ensuring the quality of the delivered product. Within a multidisciplinary development environment composed of avionics, electronics, mechanical and software engineers, you will transform ideas from their prototype phase into production-ready solutions. You will support production by identifying friction points and providing solutions to permanently resolve them. You will also contribute to the identification and implementation of strategies to increase the production test pass rate. You will support the Hardware Development Manager and project managers to ensure that the developed solutions are coherent and functional to meet the delivery milestones of the MAD-XR program. You will interact with multiple groups at CAE, such as electronics, production, planning, procurement teams, and external suppliers. The position requires presence on site at CAE, 8585 Chemin de la Côte-de-Liesse and requires the employee to travel at customer sites on occasions.

Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Design, integrate, validate, and document improvements to the MAD-XR product (magnetic anomaly detection) and associated equipment
  • Travel to customer sites to perform magnetic surveys of their vehicle allowing integration of the MAD-XR on their platform
  • Participate in meetings with customers to support project managers by providing technical expertise on hardware related topics
  • Participate in the production of customer deliverable technical documentation package, including system specifications, configuration management, and test procedures to verify project requirements
  • Design, document and execute system test plans to validate product design improvements and/or meet contracts requirements
  • Support project engineering to estimate the scope, costs, and risks associated with the developments you propose
  • Support various initiatives as needed to meet product demands

You are a good fit if you have the following skills and qualities

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic, or avionics engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Proven experience in integration, validation, or troubleshooting of electronic products and/or electronic circuits;
  • Proven experience working on aircraft/helicopters and avionics products. Autonomous field experience considered an asset
  • Proven knowledge of C and Python. C# is an asset
  • Ability to educate yourself in the physics of magnetometers and apply knowledge to improve the product
  • Proven experience in developing software interfacing with equipment and/or microcontrollers is an asset
  • Dynamic team spirit with a strong sense of initiative. Results-oriented attitude with good teamwork skills
  • Ability and interest in preparing customer facing technical documentation
