Senior Director of Machine Learning

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Director of Machine Learning to lead and scale our ML, ML Ops, and Generative AI teams. This is a senior leadership role at the intersection of cutting-edge AI innovation and high-impact production systems. You will be responsible for shaping our machine learning strategy, delivering robust ML platforms, and driving forward GenAI initiatives that transform user experience and business value.

You will thrive in a fast-paced tech environment, bringing proven experience in shipping ML systems at scale, and demonstrating strong people leadership, including managing managers and building high-performing, cross-disciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

• Define and execute the overall ML vision and roadmap across ML, ML Ops, and Generative AI.
• Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to align ML capabilities with company goals.
• Inspire, mentor, and grow a team of ML leaders, engineers, scientists, and operations specialists.

Machine Learning & ML Ops

• Oversee design, development, and deployment of production ML models used at scale.
• Drive operational excellence in ML Ops (CI/CD for ML, monitoring, reliability, scaling).
• Establish best practices for experimentation, reproducibility, and model governance.

Generative AI Innovation

• You have led 1 or more high-impact Generative AI initiatives from conception through to measurable business outcomes.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and strategically integrate GenAI into products and internal workflows.

Execution & Delivery

• Ensure high-quality, timely delivery of ML projects with clear ROI.
• Build scalable systems capable of handling production workloads in large tech environments.
• Champion a culture of innovation balanced with reliability and accountability.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in Machine Learning, Data Science, or Applied AI, with at least 5+ years in senior leadership roles.
• Proven success in managing other senior leaders/managers within technical organizations.
• Strong track record of shipping ML systems in production at scale within large technology companies or high-growth environments.
• Deep understanding of ML Ops practices (automation, deployment pipelines, monitoring, scalability).
• Demonstrated success leading 1–2 Generative AI projects with measurable outcomes.
• Strong technical foundation in ML/AI with the ability to set strategy while engaging on technical detail.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with a bias toward action and impact.
