Job Description – DevOps Engineer
Location: Full remote in Western Canada or Ontario, working PST hours
6 Month CONTRACT with Extensions
Role Overview
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to support the delivery, maintenance, and continuous improvement of modern digital services. This role will focus on enabling agile delivery teams by automating infrastructure provisioning, improving CI/CD pipelines, enhancing security and monitoring practices, and ensuring scalable, resilient cloud-native solutions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong hands-on technical expertise across both development and operations and have experience working within complex enterprise environments subject to strict security and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for development and deployment of cloud-based and on-premises applications.
- Manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep.
- Support and administer containerized workloads on OpenShift and/or Kubernetes platforms.
- Automate operational processes including patching, monitoring, scaling, and recovery.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, and stakeholders to embed DevOps practices into delivery cycles.
- Implement and monitor logging, alerting, and security practices aligned with enterprise IT and compliance standards.
- Support migration and modernization initiatives from legacy platforms to cloud-native architectures.
- Provide operational support for development, test, and production environments.
- Ensure all solutions follow accessibility, privacy, and security requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of professional IT experience, including at least 5 years in DevOps or Systems Engineering roles.
- Strong hands-on expertise with:
- Cloud Platforms: Azure (preferred), AWS, GCP.
- Containerization & Orchestration: OpenShift 4.x, Kubernetes, Docker.
- CI/CD Tools: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI.
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Bicep, Helm, Ansible.
- Version Control: Git-based systems.
- Scripting/Programming: PowerShell, Bash, Python, YAML.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK stacks, or Azure Monitor.
- Proven experience automating build and deployment pipelines for enterprise-scale applications.
- Demonstrated ability to work in agile environments and support cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, including vulnerability management, secrets management, and role-based access controls.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- Certifications considered an asset:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert / Azure Administrator
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
