The Opportunity:

Presight is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Java Backend Engineer with a strong background in microservices architecture. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems using Java (preferably Java 20 or above) and Spring Boot, with a focus on performance, reliability, and cloud-native practices. Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant microservices.
• Ensure system scalability, observability, and failover mechanisms.
• Write clean, testable code and perform regular code reviews.
• Understanding of microservice design and architectural patterns
• Implement microservices design patterns for distributed systems
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and design patterns
• Collaborate with DevOps engineers to containerize applications using Docker and deploy via Kubernetes
• Design and secure microservices, container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensure quality through testing, code reviews, and monitoring of backend services.
• Monitor and improve application performance and reliability in production
• Stay updated with latest technology trends and advocate for continuous improvement

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related fields.
• At least 5 years of programming experience.

Experience:

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with programming, automation and system integration focus.
• Design, implement and maintain Java-based applications that can be high-volume and low-latency
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and RESTful APIs
• Additional programming language experience like python is a plus.
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Knowledge of current backend web frameworks, SDKs, APIs, and libraries.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Experience in designing and implementing microservices
• Proficient in SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch)
• Experience with message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ, event sourcing, and stream processing.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Understanding of CI/CD, Git workflows, and DevOps principles
• Solid grasp of design patterns, system architecture, and performance optimization
• Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and adapt quickly to new technologies.
• A Team player with ability to get things done efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
