Senior Full Stack Engineer | Node.js & SQL (Aurora) | Data‑Heavy FinTech Platform

You’ll join a 50‑person, London/US SaaS scale‑up serving top‑tier investment firms with a market‑leading, data analytics platform for global credit investors (think Reuters and Bloomberg)

The engineering org is London‑based (circa 13–14 people across DevOps, Frontend, AI/ML, Backend, and QA). Everything is the latest and greatest tech in the cloud, serverless etc.

The office is based in Victoria and the team go in twice a week (Mondays & Wednesdays) for collaboration meetings.

The Role

In this role, 80% of your time will be spent on development (Node.js) and 20% of your time leading projects. When you're developing, 90% of this time will be working on Node.js code with a light 10% frontend touch, designing and delivering features end‑to‑end while helping re‑architect a platform that processes billions of rows of financial data. You’ll drive architectural decisions, own services to production, and contribute to how massive datasets are modelled, partitioned, and served to customers.

Non‑Negotiables:

• 8–10 years’ software engineering experience across multiple environments
• Node.js backend development
• SQL mastery with experience of working with large‑scale, data‑heavy systems (our client has billions of rows)
• Architectural design experience and comfort with frequent releases/peer review
• Product mindset and ownership from build to deploy in an agile environment

What You’ll Work With

• Backend: Node.js (plus some Python, C++)
• Frontend: JavaScript (Vue.js) & TypeScript
• Data: PostgreSQL (Aurora) & DynamoDB
• Cloud & CI/CD: AWS Lambda, GitHub Actions

Nice to Haves

• Financial services or large‑scale market data experience
• Python & C++ Development experience
• Database partitioning/re‑architecture exposure
• Mentoring/tech‑lead experience (or appetite to step up)
• Modern software engineering/development practices, including micro-services, agile, TDD, etc. and common system integration patterns
• Knowledge of AWS services and IaC
