The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Projects Directorate (PJ) - Sustainability & Quality Management Department (SQM) - Environment, Climate & Social Office Division (ECSO) - Environment Policy Unit (EP), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2025)
(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)

Objective of the traineeship
You will contribute to the identification and development of tailored project-related and institutional-related impact indicators for the four environmental sustainability objectives under the EU Taxonomy including indicators that will measure the implementation of the ESSF to be then included into AIM and/or used for reporting purposes under the different non-financial disclosure reporting and disclosure frameworks such as Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). EIB has committed to reporting on the impact of its financing under the Climate Bank Roadmap (CBR), the Environment Framework and the MDB joint Statement on Nature, People and Planet.

Responsibilities
You will work alongside specialists in the Environment, Climate and Social Office and your main responsibilities will be to:
- Analyze relevant background material, including European Economic Association (EEA), World Resources Institute (WRI), Harmonized Indicators for Private Sector Operations (HIPSO) and international standard setters comparison with the established impact measurement indicators and frameworks of other public banks and MDBs;
- Assess options for the EIB, taking account of the different sectors, geographies, project vs institution/corporate, reporting requirements and risk management frameworks in consultation with other services internally. This may involve quantitative analysis where relevant;
- Prepare clear recommendations for the EIB.
- Final year of studies or University degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Economics, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources Management or any other relevant discipline with a preferred focus on environmental protection and sciences, climate change science
- Excellent data analysis skills
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office software (i.e.Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent knowledge of English. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
