Artificial Intelligence and Digital Research Centre

As part of TII’s Artificial Intelligence Research Center, the Extreme-Scale Language Model team is developing and implementing innovative deep learning technologies with a broad range of applications, from Natural Language Processing to Perception and Vision. Our team has developed the Falcon models and is now planning to continue our journey into cutting-edge applied research in the topic of large language models.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of features related to data pipelines, training processes, and model deployment (implementing research ideas into production).
• Conduct and manage training experiments and data generation jobs.
• Analyze experimental results and communicate findings effectively through reports and presentations.
• Deploy AI/ML models to edge or cloud endpoints with consideration for real-time performance.
• Collaborate closely with researchers and engineers to translate research outcomes into scalable, production-ready solutions.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of modular, clean, and efficient codebases.

Required Qualifications

• Master Degree
• Strong programming skills, with a focus on Python and clean, maintainable code practices.
• Solid understanding of LLM and multimodal (VLM) architectures.
• Experience with LLM training and fine-tuning, including techniques like LoRA.
• Proficiency with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Familiarity with Docker, GitHub collaboration workflows, and model deployment pipelines (e.g., via Ollama, REST APIs, or cloud endpoints).
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical ideas clearly and effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of quantization, pruning, and model compression for edge deployment.
• Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) and real-world robotics integration.
• Familiarity with Llama.cpp or similar lightweight inference engines.
• Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects or libraries.
• Experience with Jira, Agile/Scrum workflows, and collaborative software development processes.
