The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Projects Directorate (PJ) – Innovation & Competitiveness Department (INCO) – Innovative Supply Chain & Process Industries Division (SCPI), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2025)

Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.

Objective of the traineeship

The objective of the traineeship is to support the Bank’s internal team in consolidating knowledge on the topic of strategic net-zero technologies, in particular by providing background research on market and technology trends, analyzing EIB projects and the investment potential of current and future projects.

In this programme you will get the opportunity to explore subjects such as strategic net-zero technologies, which are those that are considered crucial in the transition to a low-carbon economy. These technologies include, but are not limited to, battery / storage technologies, heat pumps and geothermal energy technologies, electrolysers and fuel cells.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Prepare internal presentation of the outlook and the role of the Bank in the financing of the net-zero technology projects
  • Perform research on specific topics on strategic net-zero technologies
  • Prepare concise summaries on specific topics in net-zero technologies from internal and external sources
  • Review and benchmark previous projects financed by the Bank

You will work in collaboration with your tutor but should equally be capable of assuming initiatives and effectively managing own workload.

Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree in Economics, Engineering, Market Research, Materials Science or related fields
  • Genuine affinity with green transition, net-zero technologies and related fields
  • Previous work experience in the green technologies topic considered as advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (in particular, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage. In particular, writing a concise summary of the lengthy reports/studies.
