The Position

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Developer (DIADS)-Junior to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The salary range of this position is $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position Background

The Analysis, Debrief, and Test (ADT) Branch integrates, tests, and operates multiple modeling and simulation (M&S) tools in support of warfighter training; test and evaluation (T&E); data analysis; live, virtual, and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. The tools include the Next Generation Threat System (NGTS), Global Reusable Interface Domain (GRID), the Weapons Server Common Environment (WSCE), the Simulation Control Executive (SCE), the Architecture Management Integration Environment (AMIE), Analysis and Reporting Tool (ART), and the Digital Integrated Air Defense System (DIADS). The Battlespace Division delivers these products as part of an integrated suite of tools called the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) Technical Baseline (JTB); the battlespace for JSE.

A typical day as a Software Developer (DIADS)-Junior may include:

  • Works to integrate DIADS software to support an advanced synthetic training environment
  • Integrates software into flight simulators to support pilot training against potential threats
  • Supports software integration, validation and verification of integration, customer training and demonstrations
  • Demonstrates knowledge of standard programming algorithms, design patterns and object-oriented software design
  • Evaluates and reviews C++ language code
  • Programs using C++, Python 3, HTML and Lua
  • Integrates Web-based applications using development technology
  • Collaborates with team members to design future enhancements

Must-haves

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering: Degrees in Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace, Computers, Software Systems, Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering with at least 1 year of C++ experience may qualify
  • 1 years of relevant work experience
  • 1 year experience with scripting, database and programming languages such C++ and/or Python3
  • 1 year experience with scripting, database and programming in Lua
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Special Access Program (SAP) Access
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Skills

  • Experience with configuration management (GitLab)
  • Experience with HTML
  • Experience using Jira

Physical Environment And Working Conditions

The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. On rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.

The employee is required to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs.
