Focus: PlumBuddy Mobile App Development for Android and iOS – IoT Products

Who You Are: A seasoned mobile developer who can independently own and evolve our React Native application.

We’ve built hardware that installs faster than any other smart valve out there, and now we need someone to continue the development of our existing mobile experience that matches that level of reliability and speed. You’ll shape how customers experience smart plumbing. You won’t just write code, you’ll translate a vision of on-demand security into an app that people trust most when their homes or businesses are at risk of water damage. This is the ground floor for what is the next stage in the evolution of modern plumbing tech. PlumBuddy already prevents catastrophic leaks with hardware, but the real revolution is in the user connection, the streamlined alerts, scheduling, and control that happen only through your app.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of React Native experience with a proven track record of shipping production apps.
• Strong TypeScript proficiency (the entire codebase is TypeScript).
• Experience with IoT device integration, particularly:
• Native module development (both iOS Swift and Android Kotlin/Java)
• Bluetooth/WiFi device pairing and configuration
• Real-time device communication protocols
• Deep understanding of React Native architecture, including Redux, React Query, and navigation patterns, is highly critical to this role.

• Autonomous problem-solving: Ability to translate PM requirements into technical solutions without extensive guidance.
• Experience with native bridge development - this app heavily uses custom native modules for Tuya SDK integration.
• Strong debugging skills across iOS/Android native layers.
• Understanding of network protocols and device provisioning workflows (EZ mode, AP mode, QR code pairing).

• Experience with smart home platforms (especially Tuya/Smart Life ecosystem).
• Background in real-time data visualization (water flow rates, usage metrics).
• Knowledge of biometric authentication implementation.
• Experience with WebSocket or real-time communication for device status updates.
• Understanding of industrial IoT security best practices.
• Self-starter who thrives in high-growth, ambiguous startup environments.

• Self-directed learner who can understand existing architecture and improve upon it.
• Comfortable working with hardware teams and understanding device constraints.
• Strong communication skills to interface with PM, hardware engineers, and stakeholders.
• Ability to maintain and refactor contractor-written code while establishing better patterns.

You will be responsible for feature development, bug fixes, performance optimization, and potentially mentoring future team members as the mobile practice grows. You should be comfortable being the mobile expert in a team that's primarily focused on hardware and backend systems.

• Base Salary: $90,000–$130,000 DOE
