That’s where you come in.

We’re looking for a hands-on Head of Data & Insights, someone who knows what it’s like to be in the trenches as an analyst or data scientist, and has since grown into a leader.

This is not a “powerpoint-and-suit” role. This is for someone who gets energy from untangling complex metrics, pulling their own data when needed, and building trust by showing; not just telling, how data can drive better decisions.

In this role, you’ll report directly to the CEO and work across the company; from growth to engineering, product to finance. You’ll shape our data culture, challenge assumptions, and build the systems and team to turn noise into signal at every level of the business.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Lead a cross-functional data org: Manage and mentor a tight-knit team of ~10 data professionals across product analytics, user research, and data engineering. Everyone is hands-on, and so are you.
• Drive data strategy from the top: Set the roadmap for how we define, track, access, and act on data across our two flagship products: Yousician and GuitarTuna (app and web).
• Be a chameleon: Zoom out to help the leadership team see around corners, then zoom in to write a query or debug a model when needed.
• Partner across the org: Be a go-to partner for product managers, marketers, designers, and engineers, helping them shape hypotheses, design experiments, and learn fast.
• Standardize experimentation: Define and enforce how we do A/B testing and causal inference, so we don’t just run experiments—we run the right ones.
• Own our KPI framework: Define what good looks like and ensure we measure it reliably—from high-level board metrics to granular feature-level impact.
• Modernize our stack: Work with your team to evaluate and evolve our data infrastructure, tooling, and workflows for scale, speed, and observability.

WHO YOU ARE

• Grew through the ranks: You started your career as an analyst or data scientist and still enjoy hands-on work when it matters
• Business savvy: Yes, you (still) know how write clean SQL, speak Python or R, but you are also able to use the data we gather to drive our business forward. You see patterns and are able to drive business decisions with what you see.
• Leadership experience: You’ve managed data professionals before; smart, fast-moving teams where everyone contributes. You are a player coach and able to elevate your team to new heights
• Tech company native: You’ve thrived in a fast-paced product environment and understand the messy, iterative nature of building great digital products
• Comfortable with ambiguity: You don’t need 100% clarity to move. You ask the right questions, ship early with your team, learn fast
• Strong communicator: You make complex insights simple and actionable whether you’re talking to an engineer, a designer, or the board
• Mission-aligned: You’re excited by what we’re building and want to help millions of people play more music, every day
