About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and innovative Mechatronics Engineer to join our team in Sydney. In this role, you will be primarily focused on developing and enhancing DroneShield’s SensorFusionAI engine, contributing to the intelligent integration of multi-sensor data to create reliable and responsive counter-drone solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on the forefront of AI and sensor fusion technology, making a significant impact in the drone defence industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, refactor, and deploy software with a focus on high availability, low latency, and scalability.
- Support ML/AI engineers in implementing and optimizing algorithms and inference pipelines, including profiling, multi-threading, C++ bindings, and GPU utilization.
- Maintain software quality and stability through refactoring, testing, and documentation to ensure a high standard across all deployments.
- Collaborate closely with other engineers and become a valued member of an autonomous, cross-functional team to deliver integrated solutions.
- Assist the SensorFusionAI team in making informed decisions about complex system design and future improvements to enhance the capabilities of deployed systems.
- Conduct research and development on AI algorithms and machine learning models, focusing on sensor fusion to improve detection accuracy and real-time response.
- Implement and test advanced signal processing techniques for sensor integration and data analysis.
- Participate in product testing, validation, and deployment across diverse environments to ensure systems meet stringent performance standards.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience preferred
- Proficiency in C++ with knowledge of one or more general-purpose programming languages (ideally Python or Golang, with experience creating bindings for C++)
- Experience in developing data-intensive, real-time applications and/or GPU-based processing systems (such as TensorRT, CUDA) is highly desirable
- Background in AI/ML and object tracking algorithms is advantageous
- Familiarity with Linux and containerization
