About The Role

Our Tier 1 banking client is seeking a skilled Android Developer for a long-term contracting position based in London, UK. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic financial services environment, contributing to the development and enhancement of their mobile banking applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance Android applications that deliver seamless user experiences. The role requires a hands-on approach with a focus on performance optimization, system integration, and adherence to best practices in mobile development. Onsite presence is required three days a week, providing opportunities for collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess a strong background in Android development, with proven experience in distributed systems and CI/CD tooling such as Cradle and GitHub. Mid-level knowledge of Android performance analysis and optimization is essential. Candidates must have experience working with modern Android frameworks and tools, including Jetpack, Compose, and MVI architecture. A solid understanding of RESTful APIs, OkHttp, and RAML API documentation is required. Proficiency in Kotlin, Coroutines, Flow, RxJava, Dagger, and related technologies is necessary. Familiarity with GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Espresso, JUnit, and testing frameworks such as Test Fakes and WireMock is also important. The role demands excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain robust Android applications aligned with client requirements and industry standards.

Implement efficient UI components using Jetpack Compose and ensure optimal performance and responsiveness.

Utilize MVI architecture patterns to create scalable and maintainable codebases.

Integrate third-party APIs and services, including RESTful APIs and OkHttp, to enable seamless data exchange and functionality.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including backend developers, product managers, and QA to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Conduct performance analysis and optimization to enhance app responsiveness and reduce latency.

Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging activities to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.

Maintain comprehensive documentation using RAML API specifications and ensure code is well-documented for future maintenance.

Implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions and CircleCI to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
