We are seeking a skilled Car Physics Developer to join the development of a new motorsport racing title. This role focuses on creating accurate, responsive, and engaging vehicle handling systems that form the foundation of the gameplay experience. As part of a small but ambitious team, you will play a key role in defining the driving feel, ensuring that the physics models balance realism and accessibility. The position offers remote collaboration and the chance to contribute at an early stage to a game with deep simulation, evolving career modes, and extensive customization features.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and refine car physics systems to achieve realistic and immersive handling.
  • Collaborate closely with game designers and engineers to integrate physics into the overall gameplay loop.
  • Build scalable systems that can simulate multiple eras of open-wheel motorsport with differing performance and technical characteristics.
  • Develop tools and pipelines to support ongoing iteration and testing of vehicle behavior.
  • Optimize physics models for performance across target platforms while maintaining driving fidelity.
  • Contribute to prototyping and gameplay experimentation, shaping the core driving mechanics of the title.
  • Document and communicate technical solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical team members.

Skills and Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in C++ or C# with demonstrated experience implementing vehicle physics in a game engine (Unity or Unreal preferred).
  • Solid understanding of real-world vehicle dynamics, including suspension systems, aerodynamics, traction, and tire models.
  • Experience creating or customizing physics-based systems for racing or driving games.
  • Ability to balance realism with accessibility, ensuring the driving model appeals to a broad range of players.
  • Familiarity with performance optimization techniques for simulation-heavy systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working remotely, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Previous work on racing or simulation projects is highly advantageous.
