Title: Sr. Mobile Automation QA Engineer (Android Focus)

Contract: Long-term (1–3 years; renewal option)

Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite is a must) — Victoria, London or Burgess Hill, UK

Candidate must have lead Android automation experience with Espresso/Kotlin/Jetpack Compose testing, support iOS with XCUITest, and drive us toward ~100% automation coverage. This is a hands-on leadership role—strategy + frameworks + code.

What you’ll do

• Lead Android automation using Espresso, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose testing; set patterns and code reviews.
• Design & maintain scalable test frameworks (Espresso) for Android
• Support iOS automation with XCUITest (partner with iOS devs/QE).
• Define and execute in-sprint automation, regression suites, and end-to-end flows; shift-left with devs/POs.
• Debug flaky tests, synchronization/timeouts, and accessibility gaps; enforce high bar for stability.
• Build/optimize CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) with rich reporting (e.g., Slack, dashboards).
• Mentor QEs; champion an automation-first culture (aim to eliminate manual regression).
• Execute functional + non-functional (performance, accessibility, device matrix incl. foldables/tablets, dark/light).
• API testing with Postman/RestAssured; use mocks/stubs (MockWebServer, Mockito, etc.).
• Apply strong knowledge of mobile architecture (Activities, ViewModel, DI, Composables).
• Test on real devices & simulators across sizes, densities, and OS versions.

Must-have experience

• Android automation expert: Espresso, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose testing (hands-on coding).
• Proven framework design/ownership (Espresso/Appium/WebdriverIO) at scale.
• iOS exposure: XCUITest (comfortable contributing and reviewing).
• CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions; artifact mgmt, parallelization, flaky-test controls.
• API testing: Postman/RestAssured; mocks with MockWebServer/Mockito.
• Solid grasp of MVVM, DI (Hilt/Dagger), Compose, and mobile app lifecycle.
• Experience testing on broad device matrices (emulators/simulators + physical labs).
• Excellent communication & leadership; cross-functional influence in Agile teams.

Nice-to-have

• Travel industry domain (airlines, booking, payments, loyalty).
• Observability: test analytics, dashboards, flaky-rate and stability SLAs.
• Security, privacy, and accessibility standards (WCAG).
