About the Role

Alten Apeldoorn is looking for skilled Software Engineers with expertise in C++ and an interest in Internet of Things (IoT) applications. In this role, you’ll develop and maintain software that connects hardware to the internet, enabling remote access to digital interfaces and integration with analog systems. You’ll be involved in building smart, automated solutions for systems like waterboilers and other IoT-enabled devices.


Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement IoT applications using C++ for embedded systems.
  • Develop solutions that connect hardware to the internet, allowing remote access and control over analog and digital interfaces.
  • Work on the automation of smart systems, such as waterboilers, ensuring efficient and reliable operation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the integration of software and hardware components in IoT environments.
  • Implement and optimize software to ensure performance, scalability, and robustness.
  • Use test automation tools, such as the Robot Framework, to validate C and C++ code for IoT applications.
  • Maintain code quality and standards using version control tools and agile methodologies.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of C++ with additional experience in C and Python.
  • Background or interest in IoT development, particularly in connecting hardware to the internet and interfacing with analog systems.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks (such as the Robot Framework) for C/C++ code validation is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, sensor integration, and IoT communication protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.


Nice-to-Have

  • Knowledge of Python for testing automation and supplementary IoT functionalities.
  • Experience with cloud platforms for IoT, such as AWS IoT or Azure IoT Hub.
  • Understanding of security best practices for IoT devices and data.
