Core Network Engineer With Security And Firewall Testing Experience

My client a leading technology consultancy is looking to recruit experienced Core Network Engineers for long term contract assignments based in Dusseldorf, Germany.

You will have the following technical experience and be eligible to work in Germany as an independent freelancer, ideally you will already live in Germany, or even better close to Dusseldorf and be available to start a new assignment quickly!

• Core Security Engineer with extensive experience in Quality Assurance testing within the telecommunications domain, specializing in lawful interception (X1, X2, X3) across IMS and 5G SA networks, Cell Broadcast Systems, and telecom-specific security infrastructures.
• Proficient in SIEM tools like Splunk, IAM, PKI, and Vault for secure identity, access, and credential management.
• Skilled in firewall configuration and validation for SS7, Diameter, GTP, and spam shield solutions, with strong expertise in threat modelling, vulnerability assessment, and compliance testing aligned with ETSI and 3GPP standards.
• Adept at protocol analysis, security rule validation, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure robust, secure, and regulatory-compliant telecom network deployments.

Day to Day activities

• Creating test scripts using available test tools. This will involve getting familiarized with the test tools and figuring out innovative ways of re-creating practically possible scenarios.
• Ability to build test setups as per the requirements of the test case and environment.
• Executing test cases and validating the test status based on the expectations for the test case.
• Ability to fully understand system logs, test tool logs and use this understanding for debugging issues and identifying accurate root causes for the problems seen on the system under test or in the network
