Freelance Product Designer

A Product Designer is required to create artisanal product concepts inspired by the traditional crafts of Bahrain. The project focuses on developing contemporary yet culturally rooted designs that can be sold or gifted as souvenirs. The goal is to merge modern aesthetics with authentic craftsmanship, ensuring the products remain true to local heritage while appealing to a wide audience. This is a personal project with flexibility on timeline and potential for ongoing collaboration depending on outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Research and draw inspiration from traditional Bahraini crafts and artisanal practices
• Design product concepts that combine cultural authenticity with modern appeal
• Create souvenirs and gift items suitable for production and sale
• Provide design sketches, digital mockups, and specifications for prototypes
• Collaborate on material selection, ensuring products reflect both durability and heritage value
• Adapt designs for scalable production without losing artisanal character

Skills and Requirements

• Proven experience in product design, ideally with a background in artisanal or culturally inspired projects
• Strong understanding of design principles, materials, and production workflows
• Ability to merge traditional craft aesthetics with contemporary product design trends
• Proficiency in design software for rendering and prototyping (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, SolidWorks)
• Strong research and storytelling skills to ensure cultural accuracy and authenticity
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently in a remote setting
• Mid-level to senior design expertise preferred
