About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior User Interface (UI) Developer to join a digital customer service team within government. You will play a key role in developing user-friendly, accessible and innovative web solutions that enhance service delivery for Queenslanders.
This is a contract position based in Brisbane CBD, commencing 22nd September 2025 through to 20th March 2026. You will work in a collaborative environment that values diversity, inclusion, and respect, while contributing to the delivery of customer-centric services and digital innovation.
Key responsibilities
- Investigate, analyse and develop digital user interface solutions using industry-standard front-end technologies.
- Develop reusable components and templates for the Queensland Government Design System (QGDS).
- Support and maintain Squiz Matrix websites and web environments, ensuring stability and responsiveness.
- Assist in UI analysis and design activities, including scoping, test strategies, and user acceptance studies.
- Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business requirements.
- Collaborate within an Agile team, fostering open communication and contributing to business improvement initiatives.
- Ensure that all web solutions are accessible, customer-focused, and aligned with industry best practice.
Highly desirable criteria
- Previous experience with Squiz Matrix and/or form.io.
- Familiarity with government frameworks such as the Single Web Experience (SWE) and Design System implementation.
- Experience in accessible and customer-centric design principles.
Desirable criteria
- Experience working within Agile teams delivering digital services.
- Ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in digital service delivery.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Skills and experience
- Front-end development expertise: HTML5, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, JSON.
- Frameworks: Angular, React, Vue.js, Next.js.
- CSS frameworks: Bootstrap5+ or similar.
- Version control: Git.
- Build tools: NPM, Gulp, Webpack, Vite, ESBuild, SASS/Less, PostCSS.
- Testing tools: VITest, Jest, Selenium, Cypress.
- Integration: REST API development and integration.
- UI tools: Storybook, Chromatic.
- Experience with website components development (e.g. Web Components, Design Tokens, Figma).
- Strong analytical skills in interpreting business requirements and delivering fit-for-purpose solutions.
