We are looking for a Unreal Engine Developer On-Call Trainee for our TechSim product. As part of this role, you will contribute to high-quality real-time visualizations of maritime simulation and collaborate with software engineers and the product team. The location for this role is Turku, Finland. As an On-Call Trainee, you can work up to 25 hours per week. The person who is selected for this role needs to be a full-time student studying for a degree in Finland. This is temporary contract for 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply your existing foundational knowledge of Unreal Engine to develop interactive elements and partake in dynamic simulation projects
- Utilize your understanding of Unreal game mechanics while creating and enhancing applications using the Blueprint Visual Scripting system
- Leverage your experience with the Material Editor for material and shader creation
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, contributing to innovative and cutting-edge simulations and training solutions
- Engage in rigorous testing and debugging processes to ensure quality application development
- A foundational understanding of Unreal Engine is a prerequisite for success in this role
- Solid grasp of 3D graphics fundamentals and basic mathematics essential for game development
- Good English skills (written and spoken)
- High motivation for continuous learning and professional development
- C++ programming skills (significant advantage)
- Experience with 3Dmax, Blender, or other 3D editors
- Knowledge of Unreal Engine's multiplayer framework
- Any experience in game or interactive application development
- Understanding of shader principles and material creation
- Knowledge of physical simulations in UE5
- Experience with UE5's Niagara particle system
- Portfolio with personal projects (even small ones)
