We are seeking a highly motivated Cybersecurity Associate to support OIVAN cybersecurity hygiene efforts and grow into an advanced role focused on ethical hacking, threat intelligence and security operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to gain hands-on experience across core cybersecurity functions while receiving mentorship and training in penetration testing, secure coding, and ethical hacking practices.
What You'll Do
Cybersecurity Hygiene & Monitoring
- Assist in the implementation and enforcement of basic security hygiene practices, including patch management, asset inventory, and user access control
- Monitor antivirus, endpoint protection, and SIEM dashboards for alerts and anomalies
- Perform routine checks for system misconfigurations, weak passwords, or outdated software
- Support phishing simulation campaigns and user awareness training
- Help maintain logs and audit trails as required by compliance frameworks
- Engage in structured learning paths in ethical hacking (e.g., CEH, OSCP)
- Shadow senior security team members in penetration testing and security operations
- Stay current with cybersecurity trends, threat intel, and vulnerabilities (e.g., CVEs)
Required:
- Basic knowledge of networking, operating systems, and information security
- Basic coding and software development skills
- Comfortable with Linux/Windows CLI, scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
- Familiarity with security tools (e.g., Wireshark, Nmap, Burp Suite) or interest in learning them
- Strong interest in cybersecurity and a desire to grow in ethical hacking or red teaming
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Eagerness to learn, troubleshoot, and work in a team environment
- Completed coursework or certification in Cybersecurity
- Internship or personal project in security
- Participation in CTFs, bug bounties, or GitHub security tools
